Still trying to work out how to use superstimulus
I want to get past the bootstrapping phase where I don’t see many posts (one or two per week) and am not sure people see my posts so I only post here in an attempt to bootstrap rather than out of direct motivation. On Facebook, I could rely on early interactions with my posts to make them visible in other people’s feeds, and thereby I could encounter new people and have a large enough network to feel like I was participating in something. I don’t know how many followers I have now, but I can see I have 9 contacts, of which a couple seem active on here. Maybe I should invite my friends on here, but then they will have the same issue as me, and stop coming.
I think it would be ok if I could find and follow accounts that post stuff of interest to me, but I don’t know how to do that here either (not sure if it has any algorithm like that, which would suggest posts/follows based on my existing follows).
What I’ve done for now is go through Ben Weinstein-Raun’s list of mutuals and follow the people I know from elsewhere. I also found a per-contact setting that lets me ask to see all posts instead of just their popular posts, and switched that on for some people.
